We're staying at our vacation home for the holidays. After fixing one formosan termite problem in 2009 that was $20,000 now we have a new problem. I have a much better repair guy this time around who is very precise and experienced.
It may be another 15-20,000 in repairs again.
When I googled termite damage/costs it said the average was $3000. I realize it depends on level of damage but my goodness.
Where ever there is moisture - if water gets in anywhere - the termites come. Formosan termites don't come from the ground. They fly in a swarm and then lose their wings and bury in the wet wood. We had a few leaks around deck and windows and that's what has been damaged. Support beams and floor joists were affected. We are staying at the house while the work is being done.
I wouldn't wish this on anyone. What ever you do, keep water out of your house.
