I have a flush mount ceiling light that I put a pull chain switch in. Been working for years, and now stopped after working intermittently recently.
I tested the pull chain switch with an ohmeter and it fluctuated wildly between .9 and 4.8. It then seemed to settle down on .9...maybe I had a better connection.
Bulb's good. Not sure why this isn't working.

How did you test the switch? When I test one, i set my muktimeter to continuity test, and then I put one lead on each pole of the switch. If the switch is in the ON position it should show continuity (0 resistance).

Is it a simpson 260, a PSM 4 or a Fluke, because you could have a bad battery?

the pull chains will go bad after some time.
for a couple of bucks, just go ahead and replace it.
