Concrete flooring in basement buckling up

Hello all.

Newish homeowner here. Recently, the concrete floor in my basement has been buckling upwards. It is almost like something is burrowing into my basement from below (pictures attached).

Any ideas as to what can be causing this and how to go about fixing it?

How old is the house? What type of basement walls do you have?

Clear that loose concrete away and take another picture.
It looks pretty thin for a concrete floor. Probably some sort of coverup patch to sell the house.
