Wanted to share this ... The installers got fired because they were wood butchers. Side trim was too short so they scabbed some scrap onto the bottom ... yes, mahogany scrap. They left the screws showing (did counter sink them) and said they would fix it with wood putty.
FIRED.
Owner trusted me to fix the mess on his $4,000 door set. Pics show the transition from screws showing ... to counterboring ... to plugging with mahogany ... to interim finishing ... and final product. Several hours of sanding, including 220 grit between spar varnish coats, gave a classy, warm and lustrous finish.
