I recently bought a 1950's townhouse with vinyl in the kitchen/dining area. I pulled up a corner of the sheet vinyl and was happy to find hardwood floors underneath in good condition! The problem I'm facing now is that the entire wood floor is tacky - likely from whatever adhesive was used on the old vinyl flooring.
I've read up on removing linoleum tiles, and it looks like the portion of the floor that has those (3 layers worth!) will have to be scraped, sanded, and refinished, but does anyone have advice on cleaning the sticky layer off the good portion of the floors?
