In my home there is a wide doorway that leads into a new addition that was built onto the house in the early 90s, here lately I've noticed that the board that runs in the center of the doorway seems to be sticking up noticeably higher than the rest of the floor and the board seems to be a little loose, when stepping on it the board will move up and down and it squeaks. Is this something that is normal in older homes? Or does it mean that the whole house is falling apart at the seems?

Thanks

Got a picture?
Are you talking about the threshold that's loose?
Could be as simple as someone did not want nails to show so they used constrution adhesive to install it and it's came loose.
But a picture may clear that up.

Yeah it's the threshold, thanks I couldn't remember what it was called. I checked it out and that's exactly what it was, it just needed to be nailed down. Thanks for your help.
