anyone have an office chair that the darn thing will not stay up ?

the seal is leaking on the piston, its a good chair. but useless because of the piston leak.

get a 4'' long 1/2''bolt

remove the chair from the piston.

just pick it up, they usually slide off with out any tools

drop the bolt down in the hole put it back together

you may want a shorted bolt, i like the 4''

Frodo, I had what you described happen to a couple chairs after my brother sat in them (back when he was over 400lbs). A few times the legs have actually snapped off under his weight. A couple of my mother's chairs developed a permanent tip to the side (the floor where her desk chair sits is so out-of-whack that it tilts quite a bit in that spot).

I'll have to remember the bolt trick if it happens again.
