Time to show off some work the Mr. did last year. We have a two-story foursquare with a full basement that is being completely redone. The Mr. installed a beam to support the second story so we could remove some walls on the first floor. Working solo, he put in a 3-LVL built up beam across the center of the house, cutting back the the second story floor joists and attaching with joist hangers. They had previously rested on top of a wall. Since he was working alone, he rigged up a load leveler and used an electric hoist to lift the beam into place.
