My main sewer line (circa 1959) is beginning to fail. My basement is finished and I don't relish the thought of demolishing walls to get to the sewer line. One plumber has a system where he digs a hole at the street, a hole in the basement and using a winch/pulley drags a new pipe from inside the house to the street. The pipe is installed in sections and welded as it goes and the old pipe is destroyed by a mechanism at the front of the cable. Anyone familiar with this and does it really work?
