Hello,
I am looking for some answers on how to repair a deck in our home.
It is about 10 years old. The original material is 2x6 inch cedar and it is now
cracked and restained several times. I have purchased 5/4 lumbar and wish to put it down but am afraid that the side posts that were in place will have gaps due to the difference in thickness in the depth of the new material. Do you normally put shims on the old material to compensate for the difference in depth of the materials? Also what are good treatment for the new decking material? What kind of stains are excellent?
Thank you.
