buddy of mine lived at the end of the street. 1 pole, with a small transformer
bill around $100.00 for 5 years.
2 new brick homes were built . his elec. bill jumped to $400.00 a mth
he called the power co. and was basically told to shut up and pay your bill, looser
this went on for 3 mths.
so, being a fine upstanding redneck, he did what any rational person would do
he shot the transformer, blew it off the pole. called the power co. reported an outtage
they came out and replaced the transformer with 2 large ones on a new platform
his bill the next mth was $100.00

true story, what would cause that to happen? line to the meter getting hot?

Poking holes in a container full of pcbs may not be the best idea. Checking the incoming voltage may have been safer.
I too do not know the answer.

thanks Neal, that is interesting. im 'guessing transformer also.
