no, of course not,,, however, most think brick's a forever material which it is not,,, you need to annually inspect the mortar's condition & repoint when necessary,,, our atlanta suburb home's approx 35yrs old w/brick on the lower level - other'n repointing some minor crks, its still in good condition,,, however, we also pressure wash it annually,,, this yr it'll also receive a coat of silicone siloxane for preventative maint,,, necessary ? - no; worth it ? - absolutely !
that being said, differing geographical locations & materials will dictate a structure's needs !
