Default spiders/wasps

ok - I heard that if you paint your eaves and under your porches on your house blue (baby blue was used specifically - but I'm not sure it matters) that spiders and wasps won't gather there. I started to file this in the wives tale category, until I realized that my sister never has these pests accumulating on her house - and guess what color her house is? blue! I was talking to another friend about this - and she said her brother lives on the water and he painted his dock shed blue - and it works.

Has anyone else heard this before?

Yeah, Tom Silva on "This Old House" pointed this out one day. He say's the baby blue paint fools them into thinking they are looking at the sky and move on.
