I had a 90 gallon saltwater aquarium upstairs in my bedroom against a wall for the last 2 years with no problem. Last night I move it to the a 2nd living room which is also upstairs. I'm guessing with water , sand, rocks etc. my tank is about 1200 lbs.

BTW the house is about 8 yrs old if that help.

Depends on how many joists it is sitting on and how close the joists are to the span limit. Living room will have longer joists of the same dimension?

Have no idea if it's againt a bearing wall or how many joist. It's against a half wall looking downstair. Not sure what that's call.

The room has a weird configuration. Kinda like an L shape, almost rectangular like with a portion missing.

is there a wall on the 1st floor that is directly under the wall on the 2nd fl?
The point is that a lot of weight in the middle of a span is harder to support than the same weight at the edge of the span.

There's an entrance to the kitchen and a half wall (like upstairs)directly under the wall on 2nd floor.
