Hi Everyone,

I'd like to install recessed pot lights in my soffit based on the following video, but I have a couple of questions:

Is a metal soffit strong enough support these lights or is there some kind of supporting bracket? Won't the weight of the light cause the soffit to deflect downwards?

I think most of the time you will get that to work. If you are doing it just like he did you could take a couple 1x6 almost as long as the soffet is wide and cut a half circle in each, work them up thru the hole and position them with a few screws and that would make the soffet stiff enough.
 
They also make low voltage LED units now that are smaller and lighter and wire is small. If I were to put them in that’s what I would use.
