Default Climbers

Would like some recommendations on fast growing climbers that do well in a humid / hot zone.

Assuming your location is your zip code, you're in zone 8. Lots of climbers will grow there. Clematis is a very pretty flowering vine that grows reasonably quickly (needs full sun and shaded roots). Climbing roses will work well in that zone and be a good size in a few years. If you just want a green wall, creeping fig grows exceptionally quickly, though it can take over.

Any other requirements? What kind of sun/soil? Flowering? Evergreen?

Fast climbers have a BIG drawback-FOUNDATIONS they worm their way between the foundation and the house, and can accually lift the house from the foundation.
Clematis is one of the worst at this, every year you need to walk around the house and check for vines/roots climbing your foundation.
Just cut them back to the ground.

Hum... depending on where the climber is going (on a fence? house? tree? pillar?) makes a lot of difference in what you'd want to use.

If it's a high traffic area... don't use things with thorns. If it's a shady area don't use roses. Do you like flowers? Or do you want just green? There are various figs, ivy's, jasmines....... Heck, I've even used a sweet potato from the grocery store that spouted. Made the most lovely green vine on our trellis. Loves hot and humid. We still have it.

Your local garden center will have some basic vines/creepers in stock. You can start looking there....

You did not mention the type of climbers you want. Fast growers for quick cover,Plants suitable to hide a wall.
in general you can go for Akebia quinata,Clematis Montana,Virginia creeper,Honeysuckle,Russian Vine all these are very fast growers.
