The fan on my furnace/air conditioner won't turn on and off. If I put it on continuous it works. Tried replacing the fan limit controller but it didn't help. Any help?

Did you eliminate the thermostat as the source of the problem?

And if so, how did you arrive at a fan limit controller?

That would have been very low on the list of possiblities especially in A/C mode.

The same thing happened a few years ago, replaced the thermostat and that wasn't the problem. So was told to replace the fan limit controller and that fixed it. There is a continuous switch on the furnace, with that switched on the fan works fine. If it is switched to auto the fan won't work.

if you saved the old thermostat, put it back on. this will solve the question as to if it is the thermo or not. that is if it is good. did you throw away a good thermostat (old one) or did you put it back on years ago? sounds like a relay or electronic board. fan coming on in on position pretty much rules out motor or capacitor.
