Thanks for the help! So is the platform the same as a landing? I don’t need to attach it to the area under the door? Most videos I’ve send talk about attaching a 2x4 and then attaching the stringers to that.

Better image: https://imgur.com/GLoDS40 I think what you see rotted is mostly the plywood that extends up under the siding. I did have to replace the rim joist on a wall of camera to the left.
