I personnaly have never used it but I talked to a friend who used it and said that yes, it is extremely hard material and that it is best to pre-drill each hole to get it through the decking itself so as not to crack the wood.

We needed a gutting system and we got a professional. He did his job but it didn't work so we waited for it to rain hell, saw were the problem was and did the drain system ourselves. It's the only way to get what you're looking for.
