Looks like the "ceiling" your referring to is more of a mezzanine. The roof is a standard hip roof. I doubt if the ceiling is holding up the roof. The carpenter should have spotted that right away, unless the photos are not showing the full picture. Take shot from above and post. BoltonBen...
