Garages are great for that in the winter, but I'm tired of the Kansas City area winter. I'd rather be out on the deck or the dock, with WARMER WEATHER!
I like the ideas of the heat and co2 sensors. I'd never really thought about anything in the garage, but I'll bet more fires start in garages than just about anyplace else in the home.
Although bad cooks could account for a lot of kitchen fires!
Garages make great party areas. Epoxy floors make the clean up so easy! Just get out the garden hose and squeege. I have a bar with table and chairs in mine. Hoping to add some storage and tv soon.
Sounds a little low to me. That's about $20/sf @ $15K. I got a quote of around $17/sf on a pole barn type building. Did you want a floor? That will likely be $5/sf in addition to the garage cost.
Time to get some bids!
My dad did that about 20 years ago, when he wanted to make the 3 car garage a 6 car garage. The city would only allow a garage that size if it was attached to the house. He added a small 4'x8' "hallway" with doors on 4 sides, I'm sure it was expensive, but he got his garage!

If you're looking for an inexpensive clear, we've had good results with Sherwin Williams H&C CHATTAHOOCHEE SEALER. It gives a semi-gloss appearance and is inexpensive.
Works well for cleaning and a wet-look. Doesn't do much for moisture or traffic.
