I love the Dewalt 12" slider but it is really heavy. I have also used the 12" without the slide, it will cut just about everything but weighs a bit less. I would say that your mobility needs should play heavily into your decision. Kris RestorationJournal

Pond liner is very similar if not the same as rubber roofing. If you have access to or come across some it would work fine. It won't last and I don't recommend it but if you want to do it on the cheap and don't care simple black plastic would work for a year or two until it starts to break down...
