    Replacement windows are new construction!

So although we ordered replacement windows from Crestline, they apparently don't sell "replacement windows". Only "new construction". Great. I am not planning to replace my siding. I was not planning to replace the brickmould around the windows today. But here we are and I am not sure what...

    3-way wiring issue

am I supposed to be looking at the master or slave? I assume the master, but I don't want to jump to conclusions yet.

    3-way wiring issue

Ok, so I am replacing all the outlets and switches in my house with white. In doing so, there are a couple of 3 way switch setups. Now, I am a pretty simple guy, so my thought is pull the existing switch, wire in the wires in the same spots on the new switch and voila - the switch works. If...

Putting an Oak Jamb in an open doorway

Thanks. I understand about the trim (casing), it's more about the additional Oak jamb that I am questioning. Perhaps this illustration will help! Do I opt to leave the existing drywall in (left diagram) or remove that drywall and replace with the oak (right diagram)...? Or doesn't it matter...

Putting an Oak Jamb in an open doorway

So I might not be using the right terms to describe this, but my wife and I decided that we are going to paint our kitchen and living room two different colors. We have an open doorway in between the two at the moment. We want to add an oak jamb (surround?) to the doorway so that there is a...

Rick's bar contructions - lots of pics

Very nice work. I like your use of recessed areas to house the useful/essential items (electronics/garbage can, etc)!

Finishing windows before they are installed or after?

Plus, since I don't have any idea what your time table is, you can chip away at the windows as you are able to, and then just install them when you are ready. Versus having them installed and then not done. Seems a better way to making sure the project gets finished on time.

Nice work Phatboy. I have built a few stands/canopies myself, and you did a very good job. :)

    Gas line drain wait time

My understanding is that you are not supposed to use plumbers tape, but rather pipe dope. Is this correct or a myth?

Perhaps she should start with the library for any books that can help her? :)

** I need some help and advice about my entire house please! **

Yes, not to overshadow where DrHicks is going with this, but the problem is the lifestyle that you and your husband have adopted. In order to get out from under this, changes have to be made - the car and pets are only the start. You need a new way of thinking and approaching life, and it...
