if we update the playroom we'd just replace the fiberboard with drywall. if we do the bathroom it would be updating the old subway tile to match the new (behind the shower) and replace the floors. fixtures would likely remain.

I’m going to get a quote for drywall (both over top the fiberboard and by removing completely.
Question: should there be any concerns regarding insulation or moisture? I had posted this question elsewhere and a few folks brought that point up.
my wife and i just bought our first home and it's a 100-year old colonial with plaster walls.
i've made myself overly paranoid regarding dust, lead, asbestos, etc. i am wondering whether it makes sense to just purchase one of the smaller, more-affordable (~$500 from my research) dust...
i am overly-paranoid by nature (and have a 6-month old so) so yesterday as we were painting a small closet and my FIL sanded some old paint away it had (has) me worried.
with that worry comes questions. given that painting prep does include sanding, how is it possible to safely prep and paint...

while there are a multitude of things that we'd like to do, replacing these (in our opinion, ugly) fiberboard walls is close to the top. this fiberboard looks like patched up cardboard. that said, i am not yet a DIY'er so i'd likely need to hire it out. before i do, i come to you fine folks with...
