    Framing question

Agreed... take a look at how some other bi-fold door is installed and everything should become clear. Very easy installation.... you just need to check out someone else's door first - then proceed.

    Newly installed bay window leaks

Yes, you should be able to add the roof as pictured above. It will just take a little head scratching to put together. I was thinking just like Square Eye... that you didn't have so much room, but after seeing the pictures, you have plenty of room... just need to get started and it will come...

    Newly installed bay window leaks

Another caution is also in order... Be extra attentive when insulating around the bay window. This type of window is prone to moisture (condensation) if not properly and completely insulated. Now is the time to add as much insulation as possible... really a hassle if moisture becomes an issue...

    tips for removing existing countertops

Hello and Welcome Even at 50 years, the counter tops should have been screwed on from the underside. You need to lay down inside a base cabinet and look up in the corners with a flashlight. You should see screws that have been added in the brace of the corners. No need to tear up your base...

Help needed matching wood on ceiling!

Hmmmmm... There is not much you can do to take away the rustic look that has been crated by the ceilings in the two rooms. The size and open space will always be very apparent regardless of what you do to the walls, floor or fireplace. I would not be afraid of adding a hardwood floor if you...

    garage doors

Yes, I had the same issue. Neighbor was using the same frequency as I was. There should be some small white switches in a red holder on the rear of the opener. Just flip any one of the switches and you will be on a different frequency... Remember to change the same switch on each of your remote...

Garage door won't open all the way!

Yep, that was a "saw you coming" situation. As mentioned before, when a standard garage door is properly adjusted for easy operation by hand... all that should be needed is a 1/2 hp motor to operate it. You actually may have simply needed new springs. An aside to this is that the removal and...

Adding new rooms -ground floor Vs second level.

Hi rsmysore... The last consideration should be how your home will fit in with the neighborhood. You don't want to have the most valuable home in an average neighborhood... this would make selling it difficult and at a lower price. If the completed home will end up with approximately the same...
