Do Solid Core Doors Really Reduce the Sound of a Noisy Roommate??

I'd like to hear any anecdotes about putting in solid core doors, and if it made the room quieter. There is a pretty big space under the door, to allow the A/C air return path, but there is also a vent under the hot water heater closet next to my room. But the big spacing should be kept the...

How to Paint over Damaged Roof Wood?

This damage is close to the edge of the roof, so it's not likely someone will step on them, but your point is well taken. Thanks for the advice. I might try the end grain treatment, and then paint over that.

How to Paint over Damaged Roof Wood?

Well, i just coated the roof with elastomeric coating, so replacing this roof sheet is not really something I want to do at this point. Is this the end grain treatment you are talking about...

How to Paint over Damaged Roof Wood?

Yes, the backs are exposed, and not painted. Only the fronts were painted.

How to Paint over Damaged Roof Wood?

I'm about to paint the inside faces of my fascia boards (I believe that's the correct term), because only the outside faces were painted, and I was told painting the insides will help with water damage a little. But as you can see in the pics, there are areas of the roofing that are damaged...

Elastomeric Coating, or Roof-patch with Polyester-roofing-membrane?

Certainly, yes. It appears both the roof-patch and the coating are elastomeric acrylic based. But I would argue that the coating will be thinner, so will fill into cracks better. OTOH, the roof-patch can be built up thicker, and potentially stronger.

Elastomeric Coating, or Roof-patch with Polyester-roofing-membrane?

Which one is better to use with the membrane, to seal up leaks around flat-roof, low-slope skylights? The guy at the rubberized coating store said to use the membrane with the elastomeric coating I bought from him, but my neighbor said using the thicker roof-patch, or crack-sealing paste...

    Elastomeric Roof Coating Questions

Hi, I live in Arizona, and I'm about to coat my roof with an elastomeric coating, because my 3 skylights are all leaking. Should I remove the skylight bubbles before patching the cracks, or applying the coating? It seems it would be easier to access the edge of the skylight...

My Roof is in Still in Bad Shape.... (Tucson, AZ)

Ok, so guess what? It's coming up on two years since I started this thread, and I never applied the elastomeric coating! But I paid for it: The skylight I "fixed" leaked again recently, and so did two other skylights. So now I really have to do this. Question: Is it best to remove...

    Toilet Flapper Closes Too Early

Ok, but should I just replace the Mansfield flapper unit? The floater/valve device seems to be working just fine.....

    Toilet Flapper Closes Too Early

Oh, I'm sorry. It's a Fluidmaster 400 series. But I assume you mean I should replace it with a NEW unit, right? Also the flapper is a Mansfield Model 211. Perhaps I could just replace the Mansfield? Or do they usually just sell the whole kit, to replace everything? Can I get a new...

    Toilet Flapper Closes Too Early

Mine doesn't have a chain. It's just a metal rod screwed into the handle. But there are holes at the end of the rod, so it's possible I could ADD a chain.....

    Toilet Flapper Closes Too Early

My toilet doesn't flush solid waste properly. I've already cleared out the outlet holes under the rim of the toilet with a coat-hanger wire, but still the flush would back up if I used too much toilet tissue (just urine, and it's ok). Then I read a post where they said the flapper should stay...

Security Door Dead Bolt is Misaligned with Hole

Hello again, Kok328. Maybe what you are seeing is the distortion from the wide angle of the lens? (pin cushion effect of the lens) At any rate, do you think my only solution is to grind the hole larger? Again, the door appears to fit the frame ok.
