    1 wire short

The old wire could possible be stapled down. I doubt that it would be in the walls if it was put in more recently than the contruction process. It may be tacked along joists or something before it enters the walls. So I'd at least take a look for those before you start trying to pull it...

    Basement: Latex under Wallpaper

If the paint is coming off, the paper drywall covering may be coming off. If so, I would suggest trying to scrape off any of the loose, fuzzy fibers without damaging the drywall. Possibly sandpaper. Lay down a nice skim coat of drywall mud (top coat), whether only the spots that need it...

    Removing Viynl Help

A hair dryer (or other non-flamable heat source) might soften it up enough. I am sure there are other options floating around.. but none are coming to me at the moment.

    Additional heating in Kitchen.

Thanks Kerrylib & bethany14. I would love to do radiant heating, but I am keeping my fingers crossed to remodel in the next year or 2.. doubling the square footage , and re-locating the kitchen. If it works out the way I would like, the entire addition will be on a concrete slab w/ radiant...

    Countertop Refinishing/Overlay?

I had stumbled across a product, or article about a product for refinishing your counter a ways back. I believe it was either a stone base (Sileston) or plastic (Corian) product. Tit was not thick like real granite, was only about ½” or less that was to be placed on top of existing...

Self build customs.. or off the shelf cabinets?

Well, another project I’m considering forcing myself into, is to build the cabinets in my kitchen. I really really hate the thought of using particle board pre-builts, or assemble yourself cabinets at the big box stores. The only “affordable” ones aren’t all that affordable either. And...

    Starting to re-wire kitchen.

No lighting? You mean no hard-wired lighinng right? The undercabinet lighting I will be using is corded, much like a lamp, but it mounts under the cabinet (or wall I imagine). An yes, my the range is gas, but still has electronic controls. It's really nice and I got a great deal on it :D

    Additional heating in Kitchen.

While the attached image is not to scale, it should give you a decent idea of what I’m looking at. The existing vent (Wall A) Is also for the Living room. The table, will mostly be against Wall B as generally there are only 3 of us. The cabinets on Wall A are typical wall...

    Starting to re-wire kitchen.

Yes, there is more involved here I guess.. just trying to keep it simple. The entire houe was wired up on 4 or 5 14 gauge 2-wire circuits (no ground). I am in the process of running additional outlets in the kitchen using remodel boxes, and trying to keep the holes in the wall sot a...

    Need suggestion cleaning walls.

Thanks for those bethany14... I think I'll call my wife and have her pick up some of that while she's out. This house had not been cleaned in a long time, the grease build up was something else. Nothing I tried seemed to work, til I used some oven cleaner (nasty stuff). I have used TSP...

    Additional heating in Kitchen.

Well, that is one of my concerns keeping it near/under the table. I can just picture the heat collecting under there, and us sitting at the table getting uncomfortable because underneath the table would be much warmer than the rest of the room.

    Additional heating in Kitchen.

It was pretty darn cold in my kitchen last year. My kitchen has one small heating duct., 4x9 as a guess. On that wall I plan on hanging some 12" wall cabinets, low-near base cabinet level. Originally I thought of putting a baseboard heater in, but I am concerned about the heat A) Damaging the...

    Starting to re-wire kitchen.

1st Eelectrical group in kitchen. Well, here goes I think. below is a diagram for wiring up some outlets, primarily on a center wall in my house. #'s 2 and 4 are facing on the outside wall (Living room). #'s 5 & 6 primarily appliances (toaster, coffe pot, can opener, blender). #3 is...
