    Cleaning sewer line

I've heard that recommendation told to me countless times. But I think is was in the context of clearing the drain line in general, not to unclog a toilet. To close out my original problem which started this thread, I ended up having an outside 2-way cleanout access installed where the drain...

    Normal temperature variation

Thanks. I'll do some monitoring of the defrost cycles to see if it's related. Just one of the many issues I have with this fridge. Not a happy camper.

    Normal temperature variation

I've noticed that my side by side refrigerator's temperature varies up to 10 degrees or more at times. I use a dial temp gauge which sits in the same area to observe this. I notice no pattern as to when it happens (though I'm watching more closely now). The door can be closed for several...

    Cleaning sewer line

I have some muriatic acid, which I'm told can work. The question is; how much and how do I use it? I recently had family visit, and no drain problems before they came, so a house full of women and half dozen rolls of toilet paper later, I'm thinking a heavy duty drain cleaner could do the job...

    Cleaning sewer line

Hello, My main drain line is starting to back up when draining large amounts of water into it (washer or bathtub). Is there an effective drain cleaner I can pour into my basement floor drain? I'd like to save the cost of a roto-rooter house call. Thanks, Jim

    Drilling in brick

Thanks. I checked out hammer drills and out of my budget for this use. I used my 3/8" drill and masonry bit. I used a 1/4" bit w/same size lead anchors into the mortar. They fit in loosely. A couple just spun around when using 1/4" screws. Is that experience normal? BTW, the gate is done...

    Drilling in brick

Although a great idea, mounting a separate post is not an option for a couple reasons; A sidewalk runs adjacent to the wall (which is actually the garage wall), and a downspout runs w/in inches of the existing latch post, along with a pvc tube that descends through the sidewalk into the ground...

    Drilling in brick

Hello, I have a gate which adjoins the side of my house, with the latch side against my brick exterior wall. When installed several years aqo, the contractor butted a 2x4 against the brick to hold the stationary part of the gate's latch. The board has become loose so I removed it to find the...

    House settling?

Looks like a concrete foundation. Now that I think of it, the majority of cracks happened during a relatively short period of time, and may speak to the drought we had in CO over a period of several years. I don't think Bentonite is a major element in my neighborhood, and no closed mines...

    House settling?

Hello, I have a 1962 brick ranch with full basement. As I was considering its purchase 10+ years ago, I noticed a crack in the living room drywall which ascended up the wall and half way across the ceiling. (A similar crack was later found in the basement wall just below the upstairs one). It...
