Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. My only worry is that I am going to start removing the material and some spots are going to be to difficult to remove. What would you use, hammer and chisel?

That is kind of what I was thinking, but I wanted a confirmation. Somebody told me some bonding agent and a skim coat of stucco would suffice but I don't know if I should chance it. :(

You can go to home depot they usually have nice ones on sale.

It is always good to go to places that are reccomende by a friend/relative in your area, I'm afraid that you need an excellent person to take care of your precious carpets.

there are pads that can be professionally installed, but I beleive they are pricey.

I definitely suggest you get some professional pest control people to take a look at it. Get plenty of estimates to make sure you get the best price.
