    Does PEX Color Matter?

Did a lot of research on this, most people seem to agree you're going to spend more reheating water then you save on wasted water. And a circulation loop would also rule out a manifold style system!

    Does PEX Color Matter?

Thanks, my biggest concern was whether the red pipe had a higher temp rating or something like that, but everything I've seen indicates all three colors are identical spec wise.

    Does PEX Color Matter?

If only I didn't have a picky wife who chooses "rustic charcoal" instead of black paint, I could easily use cans. I actually sprayed the whole basement using a 5 gallon pro-style sprayer. That was just about the most fun I had working on my basement :)

    Does PEX Color Matter?

I really struggle with the point in this. I understand the convenience of having one central point for each run, and no extraneous connections, but the amount of material needed seems excessive. And then add on the fact that with a normal plumbing system, if you run hot water on one appliance it...

    Does PEX Color Matter?

I'm going to begin switching to PEX in my house, starting with a kitchen remodel. I know they offer it in several different colors, primarily white, red, and blue. In my basement we left the ceiling joists exposed and painted the ceiling and everything on it (ducts, pipes, wiring etc.) black in...

    Washing Machine/Dryer Tearing Tank Tops

I bought a Frigidaire front loading washer and dryer about 2 years ago, and have had no issues with it. When my fiance moved in with me, she started washing her tank tops in my washer and dryer. Nearly every time she puts a tank top in, the thin "spaghetti" style straps get torn. I'd say it...

How many GFCI's do I need in a kitchen?

I don't believe that the house is knob and tube, I could be wrong, but none of the outlets and light fixtures I've been into appear to be knob and tubing, all the wiring is run together, not separated. Its not so much a question of the cost of outlets, but seeing as how I'm a little bit OCD...

How many GFCI's do I need in a kitchen?

I just bought my first house and I noticed that in the kitchen there are three outlets, all installed with GFCI outlets. The house is not grounded, and has 2 prong outlets everywhere else in the house. I was under the impression that you only needed one GFCI per circuit. If you put one at the...

stainless steel- is it really for 'everyone'?

I work in a clean room environment (tissue processing) and we have stainless steel freezers and warmers for storing different chemicals we use. I have to clean them daily with Stainless polish. Everytime I see the refridgerators at Lowes or Home Depot with Stainless Steel fronts, all I can think...

    Elegant Archways

I've seen this done in other places and I'm planning on doing it in my house with similiar arches to yours. Painting the underside of them white or a lighter contrasting color, really makes them stand out more. That may have been what Daryl was saying, but I like that look.

    Killer Honeysuckle Trunk

Thanks for the ideas guys! I called a stump removal company and they gave me an *estimate* and he stressed that it was just an estimate, to remove that stump, another smaller honeysuckle clumb, and another "real" tree stump in the front yard for $100. Is that as much of a deal as it sounded...

    Killer Honeysuckle Trunk

Alright this is my first post here, I've already gotten a ton of awesome information, but I need some help with this one. I just bought a house, and it had this giant honeysuckle plant (more like 20 plants) that had grown to a height of about 30 feet. After an entire 4th of July weekend spent...

    First Time Home Buyer

Hi everyone! My fiance and I just purchased our first house, a 1940 1500sq. Ft. Story and a half with unfinished basement, hardwood floors throughout, 3 bedrooms a TINY bathroom and a small kitchen. We love the house and while it doesn't need any serious work (yet) we are looking to do some...
