    Is This Mold?

It's all cleaned up and waiting to be patched. Scraped all the black paper off and removed the baseboards, all rotten drywall and wood. We snaked the wall and luckily the mold was only on the paper. There's no leak but what was happening was the bathtub faucet was spraying water when the...

    Is This Mold?

I think the faucet has hard water buildup which is causing it to spray against the shower wall when you have a shower. When it accumulates enough it runs over the side of the tub to the floor. Do you think it's ok if we just don't use this room and keep the door closed until it is fixed...

    Is This Mold?

My house has been suffering from a musty smell on the main floor for a while and I think I have narrowed it down to the bathroom. Specifically an area along the floor near the shower where I often see water near after a shower and once saw water dripping into the laundry room. Anyway I...

    Air Conditioner Question

Ok I'm hearing you know. My only concern now is the installer didn't "balance" the system. He opened one vent to show my wife what he was talking about but didn't touch the others. I guess I will just open all the vents. Another question. I read somewhere that I should have the fan set to...

    Air Conditioner Question

I'm sorry if I just don't get this but why would closing an outtake vent decrease supply. Wouldn't it just be like that room doesn't exist to the system and more cold air would go to the vents that were open? If you're not supposed to open and close these outtake vents, why is there controls...

    Air Conditioner Question

Each room doesn't have a return vent. There's like 1 or 2 on the main floor and an intake on the furnace itself.

    Air Conditioner Question

I'm talking about the vents where the cold air comes out of. Wouldn't you want to adjust these as the seasons change?

    Air Conditioner Question

We had a new central air conditioner and furnace replaced the other day and the installer told me to do something I've never heard before. He said you should always leave all the vents open as it's a system or something like that. Normally in the summer I would close all the vents in the...

    New Furnace Recommendations

I did a search but thought I would ask here as well. People are more apt to leave a review if they had a bad experience and no furnace manufacturer is going to have a perfect record. The Econo 300 is made by Goodman.

    Can I Mow Now?

How long do you want the grass to be? I'm pretty new at this. How do you feel about handheld manual aerators?

    Where To Relocate Downspout

I called another company and they guestimated $500. I think my wife would balk at anything over $200.

    Where To Relocate Downspout

I hear what you are saying but in order to cross the walkway it would have to go over the garden wall which would mean it would have to angle up at some point. I also don't really like the idea of a big hump halfway down the walkway that you have to step up and over everytime you go in or out...

    Can I Mow Now?

How do I tell what type of grass I have? I live in Canada if it's any help.

I certainly hope you do not find a bandaid solution and pass your problem on to someone else. It's your problem, deal with it.

    Can I Mow Now?

So we just bought our first house and I'm super keen in getting my neglected lawn back in shape. A lot of things I've read say don't mow til May but it's looking a little long and my neighbor who has a perfect lawn has mowed. Can I go over it with the highest setting on my mower or is it too...

Filling Gap Between Concrete Pad and Foundation

Update, some parts of the gap were pretty deep and I used backer rod and in others I didn't. I should have used more as I ended up using 4 tubes of silicon and it's still not really level with the concrete pad. This is what I was filling.

    Where To Relocate Downspout

Update, a gutter company wanted $1500 to relocate the downspout from the front left of the house to the back right so obviously we're not going to do that. Another idea which would seem like our only option at this time is to figure something out so that the downspout will stay in the garden...

    Where To Relocate Downspout

In Ontario there were various programs designed to encourage you to disconnect your downspout from going anywhere but onto your lawn. Wouldn't simply relocating a downspout be a lot cheaper than trying to repair pipes that have already caused our basement to leak or replacing them? I should...

    Where To Relocate Downspout

Thanks everyone this is very helpful. Sounds like the next step is to call a gutter company.
