    I would have to look that one up but in my 20+ years as a tech. i've never seen a furnace temp. so hot that it burns the plastic on an evap. coil. There should have high temperature limits inside the furnace that will protect the coils

    I would check on the warranty of the coils. If the system is only 8 years old it is possible, if registered, the coils have a 10 year warranty. Granted this system is probably R-22 system and you cannot purchase anymore R-22 systems, you should still be able to get a coil. 8 years old is awful...
