Kind of an old thread but... It sounds like your prime valve may be bad. The part ranges from 35-85 $ depending upon how crafty you are at shopping around. If it was stuck the other way I would make the assessment that your packings are in need of being repacked and a slight tap of a hammer...

Remove the loose stuff and anything that will contaminate your mud, big gaps should be prefilled, might want to drive some screws into the boards to make sure everything is nice and tight. I would stay clear of mesh for the corners as it does not crease into a nice line like the paper does. tape...

I paint garage doors all the time with a quality exterior paint. Clean, scuff and paint, as you raise the door you will get into the cracks and the edge sealed area.

Could of been the nap of the roller, or the applying to many coats to quickly.

I have only seen it used in attics to lower the energy bill.

I agree with this post. About the door remove any failing urethane and reseal. If it does not restore it back to satisfaction you may have to have door regrained.

Is their dried paint all the way through it? Such as the manifold, gun, hose ect? Lacquer will break the latex but can be hard on rubber packings and I am not familiar with that airless unit. I would replace the hose and possibly the gun if it has dried paint through it. A repack of the packings...

Short answer is yes it is wood and will rot without maintaining it. I would give it a light pressure was with a wash solution and scrape off the failing paint, prime and topcoat with a quality exterior finish.

Not familiar with that paint product but an additive will help Floetrol used to be good stuff but these days I would use the XIM Extender. Sometimes a little splash of water will do the same job depending on temp.

Touch up will vary greatly depending upon natural light, lighting, sheen, color, location of touch up and age. Typically even using the exact paint out of the same can and it will still not blend properly. You may be happy with the results though. Make the touch up as small as possible, use...
