    Saving Old Windows - Channels?

Follow-up: Found some nice jamb liners at jrproductsinc.com (Bluffton IN) under Weatherstripping. They are vinyl with a flexible gasket. Gib

Fed up with FEIT Electric CFL spirals

SJN: A friend in the LED industry tells me that the manufacturers make all these diodes for sale and then the top buyers sort through them, keep the ones that meet their standards, and send the rest back. This repeats and the cheap-o lights use what is left. The get-what-you-pay-for...

Nice commentary. My cousin, 40 years my senior, had an electrical code book when he started out that was smaller than an i-pad, and no thicker. My NEC code book is big enough to be a booster seat. In 1960 we still had 1 company in Hazleton PA that delivered milk in a horse drawn cart - the...

    Saving Old Windows - Channels?

I am trying to save some old double hung windows that have lead based paint. They are pre sash-weight units with nice wavy glass (4 over 4 panes). I intend to take out the bottom sash, secure the top sash so it is fixed, replace the parting bead and interior stops, plane off the window edges...

    Lead paint worries...

If the place is older than 1978 and the landlord works on the place, he needs training and certification in lead based paint. Check with EPA about lead based paint.
