    New Pressure Treated lumber; checking/warping

California redwood? from California ? You got to be kidding? Its about as decay resistant as white pine these days. THERE IS NO NEW CUT USA REDWOOD THAT IS DECAY RESISTANT TO ANY APPRECIABLE DEGREE, PERIOD. If I had a dollar for every 5-10yr (and sometimes less, alot less) so called decay...

Flat roof leaking - repair? replace?

Yep roll or T&G is the standard. 15 years old...most likely the right lifetime in many climates of the USA. Several factors are involved, shading, substrate, material used ect.... Check the roof CAREFULLY before they install a new one, look for dryrot using a ski pole or like, especially at...

    Thin stone veneer

Metal lathe is not applied directly against the substrate. Hopefully there is an air gap behind the plywood also, and not just 1/16" lol. (plywood 14%+ moisture expands and is subject to accelerated decay) Expanded metal lathe of the proper wt. can be applied directly, that will be determined...

    water wicking through floor

Your answer depends on the degree of moisture pentration and the drainage around the structure. You can check the degree of penetration by a simple plastic sheeting taped to floor test for 24 hrs. If your exterior grading is proper, then there are bigger problems.

    cutting hole in block wall

Go rent a core drill. And yes they come in sizes larger than what you need. If you're intent on making a ugly hole, metal flash interior hole and attach duct to it then intall a flapper vent on the exterior wall. Use nylon anchors and screws.

    Using Old Bags of Redimix

actually there is a way to use it. use a sledge hammer to break it into 1/4-3/4 chunks then add sand and cement and not too much water...don't want weak concrete.

    Removing concrete splatter from brick

Depends on the composition of the bricks. Clay? Concrete? veneer laid? Concrete bricks are very porous and wll pretty much never clean up. veneer laid are alot less porous but still will be very hard to clean up. Clay bricks laid flat can usually be cleaned up using pool acid in the...

Near flat roof leaking should I shingle over?

yeah, shingles for 3.5/12 or less is just trouble, won't matter if your quadruple the felt with #30. Besides shingles flying around. I see it EVERYDAY on inspections. Tear off the old, replace any damaged sheathing, rafters, fascia or joists and apply torchdown or hotmop with light colored...

    crack in ceiling and crawlspace

engineer time... Tree could be the culprit, find out first then ck for any necess. permits. Where I live, cutting down a tree is $5000 fine without going through review process. We can't even cut a limb off greater than 1/4 inch in diameter. You should contact a local geo engineer and get a...
