    Stairs are worked out using ratios, the ratio of the height to the go, otherwisa known as the slope. Change one thing, you should change the other to get a comfortable and safe stair. 45deg is way to steep for a residential stair. I have a fair bit about stairs on my site if you want details.

    Help!! damaged door jamb

    Jay, If you have not already fixed your problem with longer screws. I fixed one a short while ago using small plastic wall plugs in the old screw holes. I used the white ones in the photo, and didn't even have to drill the old holes wider. Cheers Bill
