    No corona virus thread???

I would have the test. If you happen to get sicker very fast and need an ambulance, you can tell them if you have it. And of course you would tell them about your heart issue. You might get more serious treatment and faster.

    No corona virus thread???

I had a sticker that said “Follow scientists, not morons.”

    No corona virus thread???

I have gone back to the beginning of this thread and read through the posts. So I decided to share my own experience. First, I am 58, retired from banking and live in KY. I have never had any health issues. I eat well and I am fit and active since I live on a farm and do all my home repairs 😉 I...

    Post Your Kitchen!!

Zannej, that would be Mike. Yes, he is a love. I went with a stainless steel 30 x 30 with removable shelf and hooks for utensils. I think hanging the utensils will break up the big amount of SS and help the overall look. Will post pics when installed.

    What did you do today?

Good advice here. If there was a LOVE button instead of a like, I would have used it.

    What did you do today?

i hope you are feeling better soon. And I hope it is not Covid. While I know there are many opinions out there, everyone has a right to their own. What I had was worse than anything I have ever experienced before. Best wishes to you for a quick uneventful recovery.

If you are going to do a job, at least try to do it right.

Fully understand. I never Know what I will find but I know it will be something to cause me headaches. Every single light switch, outlet or door or window trim is not level. And every single one is sloped lower on the left side. Did the homeowner have one leg shorter than the other....and didn’t...

If you are going to do a job, at least try to do it right.

My farm house is 100 years old and I never stop finding crazy bad work. For example when I had my soffits and gutters replaced (hired a guttering co to do that) we found that old painted reused and useless fence boards were used instead of new lumber. When in doubt the previous owners just...

    What did you do today?

Today I took a day off to relax and eat leftovers and watch movies 😉 I was in the hospital with COVID-19 over thanksgiving so Christmas Eve I cooked the thanksgiving meal and made an apple pie. Lots of turkey sandwiches for me! Tomorrow I have to start taking down the wall board in my dressing...

    What did you do today?

Wow! I can’t imagine living with all that snow. Must make a person very self reliant.

    Post Your Kitchen!!

Thank you zannej. I think you are correct. I thought more stainless steel might be too much....but then again it will make the range and hood look like all one piece. And of course safety is the big concern. I went with counter top refinishing instead of replacing since removing the counter on...

    Post Your Kitchen!!

Good timing on this reply. im in the process of deciding what back splash to use behind a similar range. since I just used a countertop refinishing kit, my sister suggested I make one to match. Using 1/4” plywood and adding the three coats of counter top refinish paint. Now I’m wondering about...

Splicing a king stud on load bearing wall.

While I can add no advice since I am just a newbie myself....I can certainly understand your issue. My house has all the same issues. Carpenter ants or termite damage, old soft rotten studs here and there and nothing square. Each and every repair I start is “more than I wanted to tackle at this...

Wavy, not plumb, level or square mystery walls

With the exception of the kitchen which had two outlets. Every room in this old house had one light switch, one over head light fixture and one electrical outlet. I guess when electric was added they didn’t feel a need for much more : ) Now would be a good time to add an outlet in each wall when...

Wavy, not plumb, level or square mystery walls

I agree. Might as well get to the bottom of it. The walls will never be right if the inside isn’t right. Good to have a look at the wiring too. When I did my kitchen update I found cloth covered ungrounded old wiring. I had been living with that unsafe wiring in a kitchen for all those years...

Wavy, not plumb, level or square mystery walls

I have lived here since 2004. My first home of my own. I have a little farm house and barns on 10 acres. The house was sound but needed A LOT of work. It needed everything. The house was built in 1921. It has an interesting story. Not sure when electric was added. I know it only got indoor...

Wavy, not plumb, level or square mystery walls

So here it is. Truly horrifying walls I found while taking down wavy paneling. I secretly hoped it was just improperly installed panelling. But no. I’d like to ask your advice. I’m thinking that the only correct way to handle this mess is to go all the way. Tear out that old nasty wall board...

    Hello from the Bluegrass State

Hello, my name is Mary and I have been doing my DIY home repair for 16 years since I bought my farm. It is slow going but I enjoy the work and like the results. I recently finished my little kitchen. Removed upper cabinets, replaced lower cabinets, resurfaced both counter tops and installed...
