Lowe's Shipping Returns/Used Products as New Products?

Yes, I have heard of Lowes' return policy before. There are quite a few stories of things that have been returned that are sold as new. I prefer to shop at Home Depot for this purpose alone. I've heard of major appliances being returned and sold as new. When my son bought a refrigerator there...

Any way to fix the gap between these cabinets after countertops are on?

**IF** you can find something that matches.

Any way to fix the gap between these cabinets after countertops are on?

They should have been screwed together thru the sides of the fronts before the countertop was installed. Are the cabinets all particle board? Doesn't look like they have a hardwood front on them, where you typically screw each cabinet to the next one. You might be able to cinch them together...

    Low water in Toilet Bowl

Could be that you're flapper isn't staying open long enough. If it closes say when the tank is only half emptied, the water will shut off before the bowl fills back up.

Best material for filling gaps and cracks in siding?

It would take quite a bit of bondo, caulk, and paint to get that waterproofed and quite a bit of work to boot. if you can do vinyl siding yourself (which about anyone can do), I'd be tempted to pull it all off and replace it with that. I think I spent about $3k for materials to reside our...

    Convert patio to shop?

    Convert patio to shop?

thanks. that might be my best option. i put a deck around our pool and the furthest I could get down was 30" due to heavy clay underneath. that was using a power auger too! I'm assuming it would be the same with a pole construction as it would be near the pool deck. PA calls for 36", but I only...

    Convert patio to shop?

yeah i just don't know if it would raise up or not, so I was wondering if it were possible. I'd hate to tear out the concrete to put in new footings. I probably wouldn't do it at all if that were the case.

    Convert patio to shop?

I have a 12' x 25' patio in the back of my house that is poured concrete (about 4" or so). Is that enough of a foundation to put a roof over it to connect it to the back of my garage and turn it into a wood shop? I need a place where I can leave a mess when I'm working. Right now I have to back...

Termites coming from dirt between floor and wall

If you have subterrainian termites, you will need an exterminator. If you treat the area where they're coming in, they'll just find a new route. They can be VERY destructive. I had them in my house in PA and they did a lot of damage to the sill plates and floor joists especially. An exterminator...

    Painting vinyl siding

About 10 years ago we put an addition on the house. I tried to match the color to what was not exposed to the sun on the old siding thinking that the sun will eventually bleach the siding to match. However, that never happened. My wife wants all new siding, but I think it would be cheaper and...

Creating a closet where a window used to be

problem is that there is a baseboard heater at the bottom of that wall. I was going to put the closet just above the wainscoting since the heater is there.

Creating a closet where a window used to be

i just thought 3/4" plywood might be more sturdy and I wouldn't have to build support under it (it's about a 6' drop to the garage floor from the bottom of the closet). Of course I could always build shelving under that on the garage side as well I guess. You're right with the fire-retardant...

Creating a closet where a window used to be

I'm going to be putting a 30" wide x 48" tall closet in my bathroom wall where a window used to be. We had added a garage to that side of the house and removed the window and drywalled over it years ago. There is a cupboard hanging there now, but I think it looks a little too tacked onto the...
