Recommendations for recessed led spacing in a basement please.

What is the recommended spacing for 8' ceilings in a basement?
I'd like to use 4" recessed and realize spacing should be closer than a 6" fixture and will require a few more units.
-Soffit area does not have the clearance for lights.
-14" x 37' area between wall and soffit available for lights.

I've seen canless LEDbsets/12 at HD, that have a switch on each unit, that can be set at 2500-5000K and are dimmable to 5%, which is nice. A set of 12, I think, would leave a few extra for the mechanical/storage room.
The electricians left large cable loops at each light fixture and there is sufficient slack in the cable runs to move them a 4-5 feetm
So I'm pretty well setup. All that is needed is to install additional legs to the added on fixtures.

I did not show mechanical room which is in lower left corner.

Before the days of all-in-one LED lights, you could just pick the size of your light bulbs. I would err on the side of having too much light; you can always use a dimmer.
