LG WT7300CW How To Remove Top Cover

Need to release top cover of my LG WT7300CW Top Load Washing machine so I can clean the hinges holding the Lid in place. Why, after the unit has sat for a while, when opening the Lid there is an obnoxious pop or snap sound. I expect there is something binding in one of the lid's hinges. Need to release the top to get to the hinges and check them for needing cleaning.
I looked at the front inside of the top cover be peering over the top of the tub utilizing a flashlight. There are no 'spring' taps to be pushed inward using a putty knife (as was with my previous brand/model of washing machine. Any insight & recommendations appreciated.

There are 2 retains clips, approx. 5" in from each front corner, which can be released by inserting a putty knife between the top and the body.
