We are considering installing congoleum in the kitchen. We have a vinyl sheet floor from the 80's (we believe) that sits on plywood that is over the original tile floor. This first flooring most certainly would contain asbestos given that the house was built in 1959.
The flooring company is supposed to come in and lift off the plywood and more recent floor and lay down the new one.
Question - when they remove the plywood, nails and all. that is atop the old floor would that disturb the original floor enough to be of concern regarding asbestos fibers? Is there any concewrn at all with this process, they seem to think it is no big deal. I am sure they do it all the time.
We can not add a third layer or the floor will be too high.
Thank you
