Under counter trash

I put one of those under counter trash sliders in. The bottom of the counter is some kind of thin particle board. Combined with wife's tendency to pile drive the trash in the can it didn't hold out very long. I put some 1.5"ish deck screws in but that isn't going to hold to long. Am I going to have to cut out the particle board and make some kind of brace?

Cabinets will have a block or rail in the back that is part of the toe kick. You can add a piece of 1/2" plywood under the carriage and screw it down into the front and back rails of the toe kick.
