I wanted to ask for your opinion on the best fit water softener for a residential home in Pittsburgh, PA. We know there is a hard water issue. This would be for a 60-gallon water heater (natural gas) supporting a shower, two sinks, and a dishwasher.

Thanks in advance -

You can look over the internet for various softners according to your budget.

A water softener needs to be specd according to water hardness (requires water test) and size of home (number of occupants).

A water softener is not a filter unless designed as such.

The softener gets installed right at the head of the water lines (in my case right after the well). it will treat all the water in the house. Other units can be added next to the softener to correct other problems, like acidity or iron. You may want to consider a filter too, to help your drinking water.
