    Tesla Achilles Heel

My comments have nothing to do with "culture". It is all about having the freedom to make my own informed decisions. Preserving the environment is very important and personally I'm in favor of a reward&penalty framework that incentivizes a transition towards a better status quo. However, the...

Repairing large/variable (dry)wall gaps around an in-wall ElectricalPanel cabinet?

I recently had to fix a similar issue around my panel. I simply applied mud directly until it closed the gap so that it wouldn't show with the front cover on. In your case, you might have to do it 2 or even 3 times to close a bit at a time, but using hot mud you can do that in a couple of hours...

Bathroom fan with light with only 14/2 wiring

I don't think that I can. The cables go through a small hole in a (hard to reach) 2x4 in the attic and the box in the bathroom seems original, meaning that I would have to break the wall to fish anything into it. If there is some trick that I'm aware of, please let me know.

Bathroom fan with light with only 14/2 wiring

Thank you. The second way you suggest was what I considered. Lets say that I go with this option. Those remotes are designed to work with fans and lights with multiple intensity levels, whereas a bathroom fan is an on/off kind of thing; wouldn't that cause problems? Or, are you aware of a remote...

Bathroom fan with light with only 14/2 wiring

Hello everybody, I've been renovating one of our bathrooms and recently found a Broan bathroom fan with light at Costco than seemed a great improvement to the current (very) noisy one. For context the new fan is intended to have at least 3 conductors (14/3) wiring, with one of them controlling...

    What did you do today?

I don't know of a way, if it exists. If the lawn mower starter is 12V, do you have a car jumpstarter? Or just jump-start it like one would a car? Also, you may have already checked this but, have you looked at the motor side and made sure everything is smooth and well lubricated? What I mean is...

    Tesla Achilles Heel

I like your sarcasm... 🤣 It is important to note that I've focused on publicly traded oil and gas (O&G) companies, because national oil companies are another matter. I remember seeing a graph several years ago that the large traded O&G companies (e.g., Shell, BP, Exxon) amounted to only 6% of...

You are entitled to your opinion of course, but such information is misleading. I recommend that you start asking what they are not telling you. They are not telling you that what you are calling "welfare" is just standard tax policy that every other US company gets to take advantage of...

I suppose here is the appropriate forum... Tool shed construction.

You say that a 10x12 shed is not enough but it gets really complicated above that. Is there an height limit? Depending on what you want to store in the shed, if you build it a couple of feet higher, you could have a second level, or at least high shelves on which you could store quite a lot...

    Tesla Achilles Heel

That is a big one. Still, even if a vehicle supports it, it is important to realize that E15 is less energy dense than the current E10 standard (i.e., folks will be using more of it), hence I'd be very interested in seeing a cost comparison on whether the cheaper price per gallon is actual worth...

    Tesla Achilles Heel

If your calculations are correct then I agree with you that that's the economics should really be the thing being highlighted. That said, I suspect that that argument is weak in many cases. For example, are $13k savings in fuel after 4 years sufficient to cover the price difference between EV...

    Noise after window job

IMHO that looks ugly, and if you're getting noise from it, that would warrant a complaint with the installer. The issue is that they will probably put some caulk/silicone over it and call it good, in which case, I would think that you'll save yourself some time and aggravation by doing it...
