Shan, I'm glad you're OK. Tornadoes are awful.

Yesterday I brought my friend with me to HomeDepot (after stopping at Samsclub , PetsMart, and getting chinese takeout) to pick up a 75lb glass block window for the guest bathroom. Friend dropped off the food at his house and then came out with me to unload the window for me bc he knew there was no way in hell I could lug that sucker. Dropped him off at home and helped him carry in some stuff. Cooked for Mom. She was pissy bc she was working on taxes and got mad about me not hearing something she said with her back turned to me while the TV was on. She knows I'm half deaf in my left ear and my left ear was facing her. She eventually calmed down.

Something cool I hadn't remembered was that her paternal grandmother had the same birthday as my sister. I need to start recording her telling me stories about her grandparents. Her dad's side of the family had good senses of humor.

So, today Mom asked me to bring her purse to her since she needed something out of it. Then she called me in and said "Guess what I found in my purse" and pulls out the envelope with all of her tax forms. The ones she accused me of losing and had screamed and yelled at me about and that I spent restless nights worrying about and had finally just retrieved all of the information for her again. Yeah. Kicker is, I had asked her to look in her purse before and she refused. They'd been in there all that time because she brought them with her when she went to the bank. Something about IRS mandating her to remove x amount of $ from the IRA to transfer to savings so they could tax it. At least I'm vindicated now.

Took my brother to urgent care because is leg is getting worse. They said to go to ER. Achilles tendonitis. Prescribed Naprosyn, rest, ice, compression, elevation, and to stay off of it as much as possible. Wrote him a note for work to say he needs to sit. Also told him to get a lace up brace. I stood in line at the pharmacy while he rolled around in a riding cart. Couldn't find any braces in the pharmacy area so I told him to check sports area. He found one there.

My ankles and feet are swollen so I'm resting with my feet up.

Thanks guys. You can't read the article but this shows the damage to the Fire Dept. When i drove by this morning, from the front it didn't look bad, but the back is a completely different story.

I also noticed that the Kroger sign was snapped off at the bolts on ground level. Lots more damage in other areas, lots of people in other areas without power.

Now we are facing significant flooding beginning and it is raining on and off.

Onto the other local news.... apparently #chickengate has now made national news. I just cannot believe that this is where we are as a society. Like, if you don't like what they do or don't offer.... just don't go. I don't like sushi. I also don't expect a sushi place to serve what I want just so I can go there lol
@zannej im glad your mom has all of her papers. Reminds me I need to do my state taxes.

I am a tad bit grumpy this evening. I don't want to do anything, but have stuff I need to do. I want to see the kids but can't until Sunday and I just wanna stomp my feet like a 2 year old, lol.
I need an actual hobby that I enjoy, haven't found one in 52 years....idk that I ever will. Call me a waaaahhmbulance lol

I remember your 89 Quake, I was a SF Fan watching the World Series.

Yes! I forgot about that. The battle of the bay. Giants verses the A’s. Speaking of the A’s. . . They are temporarily going to be in Sacramento (my old hometown) through the 2027 season until their new Las Vegas stadium is built. Oakland is such a loser!

I just heard this morning that Oakland is considering changing their name because of the crap associated with that once thriving, now dead, democratically run city.

Careful, nana & numbskull maybe you neighbors, and Kamala-la arbitrating.

So, the tax battle is over, but the battle with Medicaid is not. First they approved the insulin pump, then they didn't, then they said maybe, now they are saying No. They are saying "No" because she doesn't check her sugar 4x a day with a finger stick (which is not necessary bc she has a CGM-- which I pointed out to the diabetes supply place that sent the CGM) and bc she doesn't take insulin 3x a day. But the kind she takes is only supposed to be done 2x a day because it is 70% isophane which releases slowly throughout a 12 to 24 hour period and is the equivalent of multiple doses (ie, more than 3) of insulin. They are saying all of the info has to be re-sent and it is aggravating me. I'm going to have to talk to the diabetes specialist and get Mom another appointment to get her bloodwork taken for A1C *again* and then get her to say that she needs to take insulin more than 3x a day- hence the need for the pump. I may need to find the number for Medicare so I can call them and proverbially light a fire under their a$$es. It doesn't matter what she is taking now, what matters is what she NEEDS to take. But, they would rather have the patients die than actually pay out.

Meanwhile, AC stopped cooling and I had to to shut the breaker off again. Not sure what the problem is. It has cooled off now, but I don't know if its bc its working or if its bc its not as hot outside anymore.

Sorry to hear of all the issues that you're dealing with. Having to fight IRS and Medicaid sure must feel aggravating.

We had a 4.8 earthquake this morning in NJ, and an aftershock in the afternoon. I jerry-rigged an earthquake alarm to alert us should there be any additional aftershocks.

Good luck... They are saying no because they are incompetent gubment buffoons. There is no cure for them... They are also saying no because all the money already went to the Ukraine for Boats and Lamborghinis and huge bank accounts in the Caymans.

You just described Pharma.

Hope there's no property damage... Looks like a cool device.

I haven't found any damage so far 🤞 even though are fairly close to the epicenter. It was pretty scary and took me a good 10 secs just to figure out what was happening and run out of the house.

Of the several tremor I've experienced, in the LA/OC basin, I've never ran out of the building, instead, in my waterbed, simply enjoyed the ride.

Well, I had Rice for what seems like the 7432nd day in a row... Turning Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese I really think so... Domo Arigato Mr. Roboto....

Well, it turns out Rice won't go down the drain... Who knew? Every time I cook there is a few grains that go down and it built up and clogged the sink to the point that even Baking Soda / Vinegar / Boiling water wouldn't do the trick... Had to evacuate the pipes, which is usually when I replace them and that's what's going to be needed as it's still too slow.

When a disposal was installed, 5 decades ago, it was accompanied with, "run the water 10sec. after shutting the appliance off", and while you didn't mention a disposal, and granted, that in the Montana hinterlands, that appliance, may well be a hand crank operated, still.......................

@zannej I have not seen very many type 2 diabetics with insulin pumps. Like maybe 2 or 3 in 18 years. Why does she need the pump versus just giving injections? Especially if she is only using long acting insulin? Is it a vision problem? If so, can they not just get authorization to use the dial up pens?

That would be my question, as well. I've been declared as both, by different med. professionals, and followed both of their prescribed elimination processes and they've settled upon my present routine; glargine, 24-36 at midnight and Novolog 6 too?, 5min. before meals.

The important consideration is, we all use carbs differently, and respond to physical activity differently, but physical activity is paramount to obtaining a balance.

And with reference to spicoli43, I'm, as the process goes, petitioning the VA to conduct the range of blood tests recommended by his senji.
