Samsung dryer, does this sound like idler or drum roller?

Thanks for replies - my suspicions were correct, took the front off & removed the drum, the idler wheel showed a bit of resistance when I spun it on it's shaft, so put the new one in and it's all good now. It may have went away on its own, seemed to be doing it less & less with each use. It...

Samsung dryer, does this sound like idler or drum roller?

Recently had dryer apart to replace noisy drum roller, and when I took drum out I saw the idler wheel was toast too. I still had my old one because I put new one in when doing rear drum rollers a couple years ago, and thought I may as well put new one in while I had it all apart and keep the...

Installing new doorbell chime, can't figure out wiring.

Success! I ended up putting the "live" red/black & the yellow/green pairs into AC1 and AC2, then the same for the other sets into A1, A2, B1 & B2. I would've never guessed this was the correct combination looking at the original wiring. I even hooked up the old one and it wasn't working and I...

Installing new doorbell chime, can't figure out wiring.

update - on the 3 sets of wires on the chime end, red to yellow and black to green both measure 12 volts, the other two sets read nothing. On the only two doorbell buttons I have, there is zero voltage on either when I touch the multimeter to both sides - so I don't even know how the old one...

Installing new doorbell chime, can't figure out wiring.

Thanks for reply, I will tackle that tomorrow once I read up on using my multimeter. When I separate the red & black at the button, how do I check for voltage with no ground, just touch the yellow/green wires with the negative prod? and if it is (or not) from the transformer, what does that mean...

Installing new doorbell chime, can't figure out wiring.

Thanks for reply. I think voltage should be okay, when I connect one of the three red & black sets to AC1 & AC2 terminals (red in one, black in the other) and a yellow & green into A1 and A2 (green in one, yellow in the other) I chime lights up and rings when I push it on to the backing plate...

relatively new roof just developed leak while snow melting off - gutter trim?

Thanks for the reply The photo where the wood is showing (last one) is not the one that is causing an issue. The 2nd photo where the flashing is bent up (by me) is where the issue is, and as far as I could see there was no wood showing there, but I will look again. I also find it strange...

relatively new roof just developed leak while snow melting off - gutter trim?

We had our roof completely redone some years ago, new Malarky 50 year shingles and new eavestroughing all around. I think it has been about 9 years and we have had zero issues with it. However, we just had one of our frequent spring snowstorms, and as I was sitting in my office one day I heard...

Do most blower motors have oiling ports?

My 24 year old gas furnace makes a slight noise when the fan first spools up, nothing real serious sounding and it's been doing it for quite a few years. After 3-4 seconds the noise goes away once it reaches speed. I went down to check it out and on the motor housing behind the bottom panel...

    new roof advice

Our 20 year old roof is on its last legs, and will be replaced this year. Initially I was thinking aluminum shingles, but at 3X the cost we're having second thoughts. One concern about just using standard shingles is the life of the new shingles and how well the warranty is honored should it be...

Shingles curling on 19 yr old roof, can I get a few more years out of it?

I had my home built in '92, and the last few years I have noticed that the shingles on the lower roof section are curling badly where water has been splashing or pouring down from the upper sections. The upper section of the roof is still in relatively good shape, as are parts of the lower...
