    Deck Drainage Systems

I've never seen a deck with a drainage system but I think it is a pretty cool idea since you have a patio underneath. I'm pretty sure there are some deck companies that offer this service. I suggests that you make a few phone calls or shoot some emails to find out what works the best for you...

    different decks

The deck of my house is a one level deck but that wasn't my choice, the deck came with the house when I bought it. It is a pretty small deck since where I live land is pretty expesive and backyards are small so if you want to have a big backyard you'll have to move further away from the city.

    Metallic Decking Vs Wood Decking

Which one do you prefer and why? Do you like the low maintenance that the metallic decking brings or do you still prefer to own the old fashioned wooden deck? I think I'll go for wood for the conventional home. :) Which one do you like the best?

    Contractor scams!

I think the people who are getting ripped off is because they didn't did enough research for the company or professional they hired. I suggests to look for several options before hiring someone. Which Deck Has The Least Amount of Maitenance?

Vinyl is a very good way to go but if you really want to go for the least amount of maintenance then I suggest that you use plastic composite decks since they don't rot or splinter, no coating, no painting, and it doesn't look bad.

    Can I get some hints?

If you want to make a total deck make-over you should scrub your wooden deck with sand paper, getting rid of all the current paint and coating. Make sure your deck looks smooth and nice. Replace any bad wood pieces. Then repaint it. You'll feel like you just built a new deck after this. :)

    Before I stain (PREP)

I think a good way to go about this is to clean/wash your deck to make it look as good as possible. I personally use sandpaper right after it is clean to make sure the deck is uniform and smooth. Then stain it before it gets dirty again. Avoid letting pets or anyone on the decks while you do the...

    Jarah Deck tiles.

Does any of you use deck tiles on your deck? Jarah Deck tiles look kind of fancy and good looking. It is said that these styles of square tiles allow the home owner to create individual patterns limited only by imagination. Assembly is a simple matter of clicking together adjacent tiles...

    So Many Options

I recommend using trex because it is a low maintenance material and has many advantages over wood. It is more durable, you don't have to paint it or stain it, it has no harmful chemicals, no rotting or splintering, and it has pretty good natural look and feel. :p

    Deck Furniture

I'm currently using aluminum furniture on my deck as well but I've been thinking of switching to wood furniture that would match very well with my deck. I think wood furniture would enhance the natural color of the deck.

    Wood deck painting

What kind of coat and paint do you recommend for a wooden deck? I'm looking for something that would actually enhance the natural color of my deck, I would like a brownish color. What do you recommend?

    What fasteners do you use?

Tiger Claws??? That is great! What I like about tiget claws is that they reduce splitting, splintering, cupping and rotting of the deck and makes the wood looks good. I'm still using reguar screws and nails on my old deck but I'll switch to tiger claws when I build my new deck (sometime soon)

What is the best way to keep that wood look natural?

Yes there are some kind of stains/coats that not only keep the natural color but it enhances they way the wood looks. I personally like to have a brownish wood for my deck and when applying this stain over it, it gives the wood a bright brown color with I love.
