Tank hot water heaters : Do they need to be flushed?

A plumber told me the Bradford White hot water heater we own does not need to be flushed. He said that it has a function that removes any sediment by itself. Has anyone heard of this? Also what is the difference between flushing and draining? I was told there is a risk of damaging the HWE...

Carpet becomes wet whenever it rains heavily

I I read undiluted distilled white vinegar will clean up mold. Is that true?

Carpet becomes wet whenever it rains heavily

Thank you. I am calling a mold remediation company today. The pipes have been removed from the slabs to attic so that is not the cause. Didn't think of roof so will be calling a roof repair company as well. Is the first thing to do before any mold is cleaned up is to find out the cause...

Do I need a new water heater?

We are replacing the water heater but it never hurts to have knowledge. There is a gas dryer next to the water heater? Why does that increase the risk of a spark? The water heater is in a garage with a car. Does that increase the risk of spark when the car starts? Does the leak need to be a...

Do I need a new water heater?

I appreciate the response. I agree which I why am going to have it replaced. Does a gas leak necessarily mean explosion though? Isn't the chance still remote?

Do I need a new water heater?

The water heater has been working ok for over a month since the incident. What are the risks of not having it replaced? Is there a real possibility of an explosion if it leaks again? It is about 12 years old?

Do I need a new water heater?

Woke up to gas smell in garage. Called fire department. Fire department says the gas water heater pilot light went out causing the gas to not burn. Fireman said the pilot going out was due to the planned power outage that early morning which I do not know if it makes sense. Would the pilot...

Hot water heater not working well after draining

Does the gas setting look ok? It is set to "On". What is the green button to the right? I will call the plumbing company tomorrow.

Hot water heater not working well after draining

The plumber also installed a new rotatable exhaust pipe that connects to the straight pipe. Does that look ok? I do not want exhaust fumes in our home. I guess this is the thermostatic gas valve. There isn't anything else with settings. This is the second straight time a plumber...

Hot water heater not working well after draining

This is the picture of the gas valve on the water heater. There is not a valve on the left hand pipe. I am pretty sure the one on the right is incoming cold.

Hot water heater not working well after draining

There are not any valves within ten feet of the water heater besides what is in pictures. Can increasing the pressure on the gas valve improve performance of the water heater?

Hot water heater not working well after draining

Pictures attached. I was not clear. When taking a shower and turning on faucets we are getting minimal hot water as opposed to none. Certainly not like it was before the draining. When opening a hot water faucet all the way the main burner does not ignite. It has a pilot light which I...

Hot water heater not working well after draining

I could swear it was on the "Low" setting before the plumber came but not sure that makes sense. Plumber said he didn't touch the dial which I do not know if is true or not. It was on "Low" when he left. Turned it up to "A" this morning. Had no hot water for a morning and afternoon...

Hot water heater not working well after draining

Gas I thought that is what was supposed to be done as regular maintenance every year. If that is not the case I wish the plumbing company would have advised us not to do it. It has been a few years since we had it done.
