Will it Fail, or Will it Hold?

Don't know what kind of glue, probably construction adhesive. From the very first pic I posted you can see it's peanut-butter colored. I took a pic that shows me where the studs are, before he put up the cement backer. I think I'm going to drill through to the studs, and use two angle brackets...

Will it Fail, or Will it Hold?

Good idea... but unfortunately the inside of the cabinet is a mirror, too. DOH!! I thought about maybe some hangars from the top and bolts through the top of the medicine cabinet. I took photos of the job when I was doing the demo, so I can probably use some simple calculations to locate where...

Will it Fail, or Will it Hold?

The wall cavity isn't deep enough to sink it fully. We decided to hang it instead. For what it's worth, the stack is not behind the mirror, it's off to the right of the mirror. But, no matter, he still should have used the brackets.

Will it Fail, or Will it Hold?

Well, considering the mirror came with the brackets, one would assume they were essential... I expressed my concern as he was doing this. He said, "I guarantee all of my work." It was a pretty passive way of saying, "call me if/when if fails, until then, this is how I'm doing it." Not sure if I...

Will it Fail, or Will it Hold?

Glued it to the tile... metal box. Hence my concern.

Will it Fail, or Will it Hold?

Last year, we remodeled our master bath. The job took longer than the contractor anticipated, and he started to get antsy and cut corners so he could finish the job. When he installed our medicine cabinet (see attached photos), he simply put the metal brackets aside and decided to glue the unit...

    Bathroom - Sanded Caulk Cracking

I'll have to look at the contract, but I do remember he verbally told me he guarantees all of his work.

    Bathroom - Sanded Caulk Cracking

I guess that's what I'm debating. It's been a year since this was done. Am I still within my right to call him up and ask him to fix it, or is this one of those things that "just happens?"

    Bathroom - Sanded Caulk Cracking

Last year we had our bathroom redone. At first I was happy with the finished job, but after a year of use, certain areas of the project are starting to show some signs of premature wear and tear. I'm wondering if it's the product (sanded caulk) or was it shoddy work by the contractor? As you...

    Decorative Plank Wall in Basement

Thanks, Neal. Where does the vapor barrier go in the layers? Against the cinder block, stapled to the studs, outside of studs?

    Decorative Plank Wall in Basement

I have a basement office space where I spend lots of time working, and wanted to spruce it up a bit. Currently the walls are cinder block that has been waterproofed and painted. I was thinking I'd like to cover the largest wall with reclaimed wood planks. What would be the best way to fasten...

    The Mysterious Drip

Yes. It's a double shower curtain, one hangs inside the tub, one outside. The inside one goes wal-to-wall. You think there might still be drips even with a double curtain?

    The Mysterious Drip

Thanks Neal, will try this next.

    The Mysterious Drip

Yes. It's definitely a possibility, although I would have expected to see some damage/staining somewhere along the outside wall, too? If it was leaking from the shower head or the faucet, wouldn't it be running back down the pipe and dripping right into the access area?

    The Mysterious Drip

OK, so last night I removed the old caulk from around the spigot and replaced with new stuff. Unfortunately did not make a difference, so I guess this was not it. On to the next idea.
