Does anyone know a good way to find the end of a built in vacuum line.

Builder supplied house with central vacuum lines pre-installed but was good enough to bury the end of the line under the drywall in the garage. I know the pipe goes inside the wall between the garage and the laundry but don't know where it ends. Anyone know any way to locate it short of ripping down the drywall?

I hadn't noticed it missing until now since when I moved in I wasn't planning to install a central vacuum. So warranty is long past, and builder is useless.

Thinking outside the box here.

Stick a small speaker in the end you know and play some music. Go out to garage and listen to the wall with a stethoscope.

If there is a breaker in you elec. service panel labeled vacuum, shut it off, find the recep. and the appliance would have been mounted in a close proximity to that recep., and the plumbing for the vacuum will be close by.

Practical application would be that the appliance would have been mounted in a location near a recep. and convenient for cleaning.

My central vacuum has a dedicated outlet in the garage. The pipe comes up from the basement on the surface of the garage wall, it isn't buried inside the wall.
